Marjolein's Rules for Lighter Living

There is a question I ask myself often when faced with a choice: Is what I am about to do, say or think going to add peace and harmony to my life or will it create conflict and pain? It doesn't take much imagination to guess which direction I tend to take.
We face choices every moment of every day of our life. I offer you these simple rules to be contemplated daily. They have worked to create, for me, health of body, peace of mind and happiness of spirit.
Mind
- Avoid gossip, criticism and resentment.
- Love with compassion and forgiveness.
- Learn something new regularly.
- Believe in yourself and in your ability to heal.
- Celebrate and share your meals with family and friends.
- Keep a journal of your wishes and desires.
- Recognize your negative thoughts and turn them into positive beliefs.
- Don't take anything personally.
- Love without expectation or condition.
Body
- Eat only when you are hungry.
- Stop when you feel satisfied.
- Chew each mouthful well.
- Make your food tasty and take time to enjoy each mouthful.
- Sit down at the table when you eat.
- Avoid man made processed food and stick to God made fresh food.
- Eat food that is alive, not frozen or canned.
- Combine foods appropriately.
- Eat a piece of fruit instead of drinking juice.
- When you are really hungry eat plenty of protein.
- Eat refined carbohydrates very sparingly.
- Do not drink too much water.
- Drink when you are thirsty.
- Eat plenty of sea salt.
- Listen to your cravings as a sign of what your body needs.
- Avoid caffeine.
- Take a whole foods based multi vitamin daily.
- Get plenty of rest.
- Increase your heart rate for 20 minutes, 3 times a week.
- Pay attention to correct posture in every movement you make, even when prone.
Spirit
- Believe in yourself and in your ability to heal.
- Enjoy regular functional fitness at least 3 times a week: walking, skiing, Pilates, yoga, cycling, swimming, martial arts.
- Find a moment to quiet your mind every day.
- Surround your self with beauty and be gentle and kind to yourself.
- Trust in the process of Life.
- Know you are protected, loved and respected.
