Staph and your Immunity

Staph, the new and scary communally associated infection.

My girlfriend, Melissa called me the other day and related a horrific story about an undiagnosed infection she had contracted, that erupted boils and pimples all over her body.

Weeks of feeling awful, afraid and uncertain she was diagnosed with Staphlococcus Aureus, a bacteria that lives on a healthy body and at any time that your immunity is low may multiply and infect the skin with an abscess that is painful, swollen and red and should it drain into your blood may cause a major systemic infection that is difficult to treat because most antibiotics have become genetically resistant.

My opinion about the over use of antibiotics to treat non bacterial infections will be left for another discussion but leave it to say that I adamantly believe in the body’s natural ability to fight infection and if needed, use a homeopathic remedy to stimulate the necessary immune building process.

Human contact is unavoidable but there are safe measure that should be taken to protect you and your family from unnecessary infectious exposure.

  1. Wash your hands regularly, especially children’s, after school
  2. Refrain from sharing utensils and personal affects
  3. Cover any wound with to protect others as well as yourself
  4. Refrain from unnecessary Antibiotic use
  5. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to improve immunity
