We all need a spiritual practice to remind us that we are a small speck in the Universe and to trust that all is OK. Let's share!

I agree and I have found mediation really works for me. I bought a cd. by Dr. Wayne Dyer It has both day and evening meditaion. I consider my elf a very spirtual person and meditation really helps me keep things in perspective.

Since I am a reader and meditate ALL the time and before every appointment i have found this analgoy useful to explain meditation to someone who doesn't do so. Think of your brain as the horse Secretariat and Secretariat is cramped in a stall for most of the day. But then he is let out to run free for awhile and unkink and breathe. That is what meditation does for our brain and us. I agree with previous poster about Wayne Dyer(love him) but I also just let my mind free to music I like and trust.
We may be tiny specs in the universe but we are unique tiny specks who can have an impact if we choose---first and foremost i think we should impact ourselves with our own beauty--wish we were taught that long before we were taught math or reading.

Sharon I recommend first reading "How to Know God" by Deepak Chopra. It's fantastic.

then check out his other books and the books of Dr. Wayne Dyer.

Let me know what you think when your finished.
Enjoy :D

I agree, meditation is the ideal practice for connecting to your inner self, soul , spirit whichever fits your belief.
The book that helped me most was Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch and the film is now out on release, a must see! Deepaks books are a wonderful source of information also I agree.
Many people find that during a healing session they become aware of a great sense of peace, a connection to their inner self, similar to the experience whilst meditating.

Light and love

David

I agree with all of the above. In addition to Dr. Dyer, I really connect with Beth Moore.

If you are Christian (or exploring Christianity), I would recommend Beth's books or just go on her website and explore things like mission and some short free downloads. (This goes for any spiritual leader, church, etc.)

I do meditation and guided imagery a lot. I like Belleruth Naparstek. I have her CDs and downloads on Pain, Weight Loss, Relaxation, Confidence, Insomnia, etc.

Stephen Halpern is a musician and has some really nice meditation CDs. If I recall, once I got started, one just led to another.

I have downloaded things from iTunes and from amazon.com. In these cases, you can hear a brief sample to see if you connect with the background and voice.

Of course, you don't need any of this. A good start is just finding some quiet time for yourself and try to be in the moment and to quiet your mind. You can do this in your room, on a walk outdoors, or even on your Pilates equipment. I think I do best when I don't try to plan or control or rush like everything else in life. "Life is a journey, not a destination."

Best of luck to you,
Sheila

I also love to meditate. Sometimes I meditate in silence, and other times using a guided meditation.

I believe that any time we can get "out of our heads", out of thoughts driven by the past or future, and back in the present moment, we are really living. And we will benefit with each effort.

And lastly, the older I get, the more I realize that you cannot truly love another or give of yourself selflessly, unless you love yourself. Loving yourself and giving compassion to yourself provide the gateway to sharing that compassion with others. And pilates can be a way to show love to yourself.

I'm trying to get the idea through my head that it's ok to take time for me, and not feel guilty. If you start making yourself happy first, then you can truly reach out to others. This is not something that I was brought up thinking, but I look forward to pilates every day-it relieves stress, and opens my mind up to new ideas.
