What ever your commitment it is hard to stay on track. How about we share with each other the ways that have worked.
I use reward at the end of reaching a goal and not making the goal too unattainable in any one sitting.

I like to use that old chesnut of focusing on the positive and doing my best to ignore the negative.

Also just relaxing and giving myself time to stop and think helps as well.

I stay on track (for the most part) because I sooooooo don't like the way I feel when I don't...

I stay on track by liking how my clothes fit and just with Pilates I can stay on track easy because I sit all day on my job and it just makes me feel good and I like doing it. I am doing more this year so looking to upgrade to barrel, new DVDs. I like the feeling I get afterwards and keeping my body intact at my elderly state 50 although I feel better today than in my 20s. My answer to people who start off good at exercise--we all have those friends on 01/01---is to find something you really like that is fun and then you will do it more. With Pilates, it has enabled me to like free weights so if I miss a few days in cardio or weights I do not beat myself up as I always do at least a few Pilates reformer exercises.

Unfortunately I don't stay on track. Pressure of work and I need you pilates friends to keep me on track. I love my pilates. I get up at 6am and even at that I don't always manage to fit in my routine. So how about helping me get on track?
Thanks
Jaybee

Whenever I get a break even if only 10 minutes I jump on my machine and it unwinds me. We all have times when we are just standing up stretching so I then make my time for Pilates. 10 minutes here, 10 minutes there, it all adds up. If when you get up in the morning you could take 10 minutes and just do the 100 and elephant. You will feel refreshed and ready to tackle the day's pressures.

Thanks Pilatesbabe, I think I set myself a target of full workout - min 20mins. I will try the 10min slots. However not easy when you work a full day - off at 7.30 am and back at 7.30pm! But I will hang on in there. Thanks again for the support. You keep me going.

Jaybee, I work 12 hours and sometimes 7 days a week. Hard life this medical business. LOL. I am a medical transcriptionist and love it and get to work at home. I am now working for a company in Georgia who has an account with a clinic in Tampa Florida and I live in San Diego. Technology. Sometimes I am so tired but I jump on my ball 20 minutes. I mean if you are tired you are going to flop down in front of the t.v. or lying in bed. Well why not do something constructive that I love (I am Pilates enthusiast can u tell!) and the reformer is only a 20 minute all over body and no time then I am going to at least take 10 minutes break so 10 and 10 later add up to 20. The body does not know whether you are going stroke 20 minutes or breaking it up. The key is consistency. And that cardioboard can give me a workup like no VCR aerobic tape can do.

Just finished work and it is 4:15 p.m. and I'm off to Pilates. Yea. My vacation and heaven. Thank goodness I watched QVC the day Marjolein introduced this. I am hooked. Who would think 4 years later I am still doing this and adding.

Hi To All,
New member- I love pilates-have a older pilates performer. I had Heart value replacement June of 2005, having a hard time getting started again. Can't do all of the tape yet, some exercises will have to be gently added, I am a great one to want everything yesterday.Hope coming to this board, will help with new and stronger motivation. Thanks Carole[/b]

staying on track is sooo hard.

but it has been made easier by the help of marjolein for this fantastic website and now you guys on these forums.

i love to read all about you all and hear your ups and downs - it does help -

if i'm feeling lazy just doing one or two moves on my performer or even with the magic circle helps as you've all said every little helps.

with every little you do the more you want to do as you forget how good you feel after a session. i like nothing more than the satisfaction i feel after a good run and a fab stretch on the performer. as for lasting 45mins on the jumpb board...............

Usually i am pretty good about staying motivated. But my best friend has just been diagnosed with lymphoma, I have been in and out of doctors offices with her , Had not done my pilates, or eaten right. Today i am trying to get back on track, my motivation is to stay strong for her, we have a long road ahead of us. I sure wish margolein would start selling her drinks, i think its something my friend is going to need. tam

Tam

So sorry to hear about your friend. I also have a friend who is battling cancer. and you're absolutely right about staying strong. She will need that strength.

As to the drinks. We will be offering them very soon and we'll let everyone know via email.

Megan
