sydney,
I will get some recipes and websites together and email them to you. It seems that you've started to search for a healthier lifestyle and I think I can hook you up with some great places to start. The thing is, you can't think of it as a diet. You have to look at it as a lifestyle that will continue from here on out. It has really been an adventure for me. Once you start the journey you must stay the course. When you fall off the wagon, don't beat yourself up. Just get back on and pick up where you left off. If you are tired of counting calories and fat grams I have good news for you. You don't really have to do that to be healthy and maintain your weight and energy level.
The answer to your question about flour is yes. I have given up flour and grains of any kind. It wasn't easy and sometimes I surely miss it but I don't give in because of the way it makes me feel. There are breads made of sprouted grains that are much more natural and easy to digest. That is another story. I'll get some information to you as soon as I can.
I did get my workout in tonight. I still can't do more than about 5 minutes on the rebounder but I'll keep on keeping on.
Have a great day tomorrow.

Hi Syndey and Rickie
Wasn't expecting to be away from a computer for so long. Had Friday and Monday off. Spent Sat and Sun eveing at my sisters house. got home yesterday. Missed the chatting.
Anyway, I'm 37, single with no children yet. Not as busy as you ladies. The only day I didn't get to rebound was Sunday. Did get a cardio workout in though I got on the treadmill for 30-min. Did 20 Min last night on rebounder. Only did 2 cords for the whole time. Expect to do a full workout and 20-min on rebounder tonight.
My eating was fine. Did indulge with red wine on Sat and Sun with my sister. And other cocktails with my friends Friday evening. All in all did not gain a pound this weekend. Thank God.
There should be a forum for recipes. I'd like any recipes you have as well Rickie.
I know you said this forum doesn't seem to be going anywhere Rickie. But we're here. We don't need a whole bunch of people to keep each other motivated.
Anyway Sydney and Rickie talk to you later. Congradulations Rickie. On working you're way up with the rebounder. Sydney keep up the good work with the better eating habits. Like Rickie says it's a lifestyle change not a diet. It makes a world of difference in every day life.
peace, love, and happiness to your heart, mind body and whole soul. (That's something I say always on my voice mail). Keep on going ladies.

Good Morning, Ladies!
Just wanted to say that it was good to hear from you Sandra. Sounds like you had a great weekend. Glad you're back.
I'll get some recipes together and post them as soon as I can.
Sorry to say that I didn't even workout on the Pilates last night. Oh, well. Tonight is another chance to redeem myself. Now that my tailbone isn't as sore it has become easier but I still can't seem to get past about 5 minutes or so. If I was at home during the day I could do it several times but my time is so limited. I'm sure yours is too.
Well, I hope you have a great day! I'll get some recipes together.

Sandra - Thanks for sending me this way. I've copied my original post below so everyone else can see why I'm here. I'm getting ready to do my first workout and If I get up enough guts I'll be posting starting measurements and weight (yikes!).
" Tomorrow is exactly 30 days until my 30th birthday, so tomorrow I start my 30 day makeover. I'm not too excited about turning 30 so I have decided to use it as motivation to get myself back in shape and take better care of myself.
The plan is pilates 5 days a week plus at least 30 minutes of cardio each workout day. Any support would be much appreciated and I'll post updates along the way."

Jamie:
I'm glad you got my message and found us. I'm 37. Turning 30 wasn't so bad. I'm enjoying my thirties. I definitely was in better shape in my twenties. But I love my age.
So Jamie what type of machine do you have? Do you have the rebounder? How much weight would you like to lose?
Anyway, Jamie WELCOME! Good Luck... Keep us posted.

Hey Sandra,
I have the black and grey aeropilates that came with the stand, 4 cords, and the rebounder. I have not really ever used the rebounder ( I admit I'm a skeptic) but I'm going to give it a try this time around.
I have been in terrible shape most of my twenties. I went form being a personal trainer at 21 y.o. to overweight and stressed out by 30. I have two small kids, whom I love to death, but I'm done having babies so it's time to get myself back on track again. I am not currently working so I have plenty of time to workout while I ponder what career move to make next. Anyway like I said earlier, I am skeptic about this pilates. I have a weight training background and I hope the next 30 days will prove that pilates is just as good, if not better. I have never had a flat tummy and I hope to attain one in the months to come.
So enough rambling, here's my stats . . .
Weight today 134.5 Lbs
Height 61"
Hips 39.5 "
Waist 34.5"
Chest 33"
Thigh 22"
Todays workout Intermediate Reformer DVD
4 min rebounder and 30 min kickboxing
Next weigh in11/20/07 (I wish this site had a tracking program) |

Hey Jamie:
I can completely understand your skeptisism. I too, am from a weight training background. I I would do weight training and then cardio for 45-Min. I have a very toned and athletic body. However, I'm trying the pilates way, doing 2-3 times a wk of pilates and rebounding every day. Trying for the more long leaner look. Besides all of the other benefits. I haven't changed my eating habits. Except' trying to cut out soda (which I only drink on the weekends), glad to say did have one this weekend. I, ve already lost 4 lbs since 10/28/07. That's with rebounding every day. The only day I didn't rebound was Sunday. I did the treadmill for 30-Min instead b/c I was at my sisters house. I committed to this for 30-days so I'm only doing the pilates and rebounding. See, what results I see in 30 days. So far so good.
If you can, try rebounding for 20-min. I put my headphones and CD player on and jump away. I have to admit though, when I was on the treadmill on Sun. I kind of missed it. I enjoy walking. Once I finish the 30 days I'm going to incorporate the treadmill just b/c I love it soooo much.
Well, keep me informed. |

Glad to see the chat board is picking back up, the more we have the more fun it is. I was able to get in 20 mins of rebounding and the basic workout. My eating so so I guess. I weighed yesterday and sad to say have not lost any weight. my waist has gone done a good half inch and so has my thighs. That's exciting.
Sandra glad to see you back thought we had lost you
Rickie keep the good energy coming.
Jamie welcome aboard.

OMGosh!!!
Sydney, that is great news about losing inches. That is what it's all about, girl! When your clothes start to fit better you know something is working. Don't be a slave to that scale. The scale isn't a very good indicator. Go by your clothes and how you feel. I am terrible about weighing myself. I do it too much. Funny thing is, I've lost 15 lbs. since August and the only one that has noticed is my daughter. No one at work has noticed and I think it's because I was already fit from doing Pilates for so long. My muscles were already toned so I don't really look so different now than I did then. I weigh less but my body basically looks the same. Anyway, there are some days that you will have some water weight gain the scale goes up and down. I know you already know this. Sorry to ramble but you should be so pleased with yourself! That is great news!
Sandra, how long have you been doing Pilates? Sounds like you are very fit. How long have you been rebounding? I've tried walking but I get very bored. My dogs make me walk for about 20 minutes a day but nothing feels as good as a Pilates workout to me. Maybe because I can lay down most of the time. HA!
Jamie,
Best of luck with your 30 days coming up. I know you will be amazed when you feel and see the results of your Pilates. Please try to check in daily and let us know your progress.
Well, I'm on my way to rebound and workout. Keep those cords stretching!

Thanks for the warm welcome!.
Tomorrow is day 2 and I'm actually looking forward to it. The diet stuff is hard though. I am really craving pizza right now and I decided to check the site instead of eat.
Do any of you use a heart rate monitor when you rebound? I was suprised to find that when I tried it for a few minutes my HR really did go right up and stay up. We'll see what a longer session brings tomorrow.
Good night!
