I have had Plantar faciitis off and on over the last few years. It came back with a vengence a few months ago. Now, anytime I do any exercise, it doesn't hurt while I'm doing it, but after I sit down for any length of time, my foot totally stiffens up on me and I can't walk on it becuz of the pain. Any suggestions?

Yes- I went through this 3 years ago and had to take a break from all exercise except walking.
Before you exercise - try some gentle calf raises to get blood to the area, and then stretch using the stairs - letting your heal relax downwards, Do not pulse or bounce or push down. relax and hold 30 seconds each foot. do this once or twice a day....
ICE and stretch. Use a frozen water bottle to stretch your arch - rolling it back and forth on your foot. Do this a few times a day or if you can not do it- at least once after you exercise.
Perhaps you can not rebound for a while.....
I also wear shoes in the house (dansko clogs) and never am barefoot. |

|

I have had trouble with PF and heel spurs on my feet for years. I have been using the reformer for about two weeks. I am trying to make my mind up as to if the reformer makes it worse or not. My feet have been acting up for the last month or so anyway.
Did the perfomer make your feet worse, or the same? My feet are my only concern with pilates. |

| I had the same issue about 2 years ago and I was teaching fitness classes at the time. I purchased new orthodics, took a break from all exercises for 1 week, stretched, and then only used my treadmill for about 6 weeks. How about swimming?? Also I iced my feet by rolling my arch over a frozen bottle of water. I find still I can only use the cardio rebounder for a total of 5-7 minnutes. There are so many benefits to this I would keep it! Good luck. :) |

| I had plantar fasciitis for 6 months. Rheumatologist gave me 2 shots in the heel. I bought Birkenstocks which helped for about 3 days. Tried to stay off foot and did the frozen water trick. Nothing helped. Finally, I bought a night brace at Walgreen's for 30 dollars. After about 4 nights sleeping with it on and stretching calf, achilles, and arch 2-3 times a day, it was and still is completely gone. |
