I recently came across a new product that I would love your feedback on. Email me at in info@lighterlving.com and tell me what you think.
You know that my passion about the miracles of a regular Pilates reformer routine is endless because it truly does everything one needs, that as Joe used to say, "is good for the body, mind and soul".
Our body is designed to bend forward (flexion), bend backwards (extension) rotate or twist and side bend. The biggest cause of back pain results from a lack of back extension which is the bending backwards of our spine. This has only become a serious issue in the last couple of decades as our daily habits became more about sitting mostly over a computer desk and less about walking and looking up.
If I could suggest one thing that would help 99.9% or back ache it would be to have you all look up at the stars every night. I would feel happier in the understanding that at least once a day you would close your mind to the stresses of your other life and for a few minutes become distracted by the beautiful expanse of our grand and sparkly universe but more importantly you would be stretching your tight frontal neck and chest muscles, reaching your head up while strengthening your back muscles, relieving them of their eternally forward flexed existence.
The other thing that we dont do enough is twist, rotate and side bend. These movements involve the obliques and the transversus which will reduce your waist and increase flexibility and range of motion of your spine.
Airobics Pro is unique fitness accessory that looks like 2 fan paddles joined by a stick. As you move it through the air the paddles catch the wind creating mild resistance. The wind resistance does 2 things: it gives you a sense of control as you side bend and twist because the wind forces you to do it slightly more slowly at the same time it gives you an added sense of balance and control. Secondly the connection between the two paddles acts to unite your right and left your shoulders such that your arms then move correctly as one unit. As one arm moves forward the other moves back. This encourages correct shoulder stabilization: the kind that prevents shoulder injury.
There are many other resistance exercises that can be done to strengthen the upper body and when performed in a lunge position the lower body gets a work out too.
The price is low, it is portable and fun.
When a reformer is unavailable or you want a change you may appreciate the uniqueness of the Airobics Pro. Let me know.
