Pilates—Something to Look Forward To
Then on Dec. 22 I made the mistake of trying to walk across the street
to take my garbage out and did not take my cane as I had a trash bag in
each hand. Well, I fell and broke the femur right up by my hip and had
to have surgery in another town.
They had to put a rod and a plate around it to keep it all together. I
was in the hospital for one week and then was moved to a rehab hospital
for 10 days. I am now restricted to my home, have PT that comes in,
nurses and a nurse assistant to help me do what I need to do but can't.
This has been so very hard as I have not been out of the house since
the day I broke my leg, 12-22-06.
My son flew out from Denver for Xmas—first time in 7 years— and I was
stuck in the hospital 120 miles away. I have not been allowed to use my
Pilates machine since then and do not know when I can and I miss that
also.
But, overall, before this happened, I looked forward to using it,
mentally and physically it was helping me to get on with my life and
actually start to have a life. I had been volunteering at a homeless
shelter for people who had just completed treatment for addiction,
working with domestic abuse suffered by some of the residents, I felt
like I was actually living a life.
I firmly believe that Pilates got me that far. It helped my self
confidence and my physical strength. As soon as I am able, I will be
right back on it and working not only on my back this time but also
trying to figure out what is best for my leg.
What a wonderful honor it will be for those that are chosen to meet
with Marjolein as to be she is an angel in disguise, I admire her so
much and all that she does.
Please give her my best..
Sincerely,
Kathy Pettijohn
