About Nina
Nina Silver RN. is trained in Functional Medicine. This makes Nina one of the few nurses who are adept in this specialized field. Her involvement with Functional Medicine not only healed her own very debilitating and serious illness but she has helped thousands of other do the same... Functional Medicine approaches healing differently from traditional allopathic medicine. It embraces each person’s biochemical and genetic individuality and considers the effects of the environment and nutrition on the patient’s body. It gently yet powerfully heals by treating the underlying cause of the complex symptoms that are making the person sick... She started her nursing career in 1973 and worked in the Intensive Care/Coronary Care Unit at Jacobi Hospital, Bronx, New York. At Jacobi she cared for the critically ill, for over 12 years, all the while struggling with her own very serious health issues. Nina moved to Massachusetts in 1985 where she began to work at Canyon Ranch in the Berkshires. Canyon Ranch is an exclusive health resort known internationally for its unique wellness programs and its distinguished team of doctors who specialize in Functional Medicine. This fortuitous work opportunity helped her restore her own health and vitality and allowed her to coach countless numbers of sick people towards health and wellness. As a dedicated and committed teacher and practitioner of Functional Medicine, Nina left Canyon Ranch in 2005, after training the entire Program Advising Nursing Department, to help build an independent wellness practice where she remains today. She is a part of a team of talented and esteemed doctors and nutritionists whose Functional Medicine Practice heals people who have tried everything else to get better, but to no avail. In her free time she loves to paint, garden, bike and hike in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains with her close family and friends.
